Pre Gardening Stretches

Spring can be such a rewarding time of the year in the garden, but it can be tough
on the body when we are out of practise.
You may not know this about me, but I was a landscape gardener for many years pre-massage therapist; and I have certainly rediscovered my love for the garden!
I get enormous joy from pottering around the garden on a Sunday morning.

My hints for pain free, weekend garden fun include some light stretching and muscle activation before I begin, such as:
Squats, Lunges, Calf Raises as well as Glute/Hamstring/Quadricep stretches.
It’s also important for muscle health to hydrate properly before heading out into the garden.
And it's best to do short 1-3 hour stints each weekend rather than one or two long days, especially if the body is not used to it!
These last few weekends have been perfect weather conditions for some Spring Gardening.
I’m looking forward to reaping my herby rewards soon 🌿
